MALCOLM VENVILLE (Director)

A highly praised photographer and director of TV commercials, music videos and short films, Malcolm Venville is continuously pushing the creative envelope. Venville recently published his highly anticipated second book of photography, LUCHA LOCO, an examination of the colourful costumes and personas of masked Mexican Wrestlers through striking portraiture.

A hearing child of profoundly deaf parents, Venville came from what he describes as “a silent, visual world.” It is his youth and background, he explains, “that helped me and informed the way I create images.” Venville’s desire to work in features and documentaries, among other media, brought him from London to LA.

Venville has been the recipient of every major honor in advertising, of which highlights include Volkswagen SQUARES, which in 2003 won the Andy Awards Grandy, two Gold Pencils at the One show, the AICP’s Overall Excellence for a single spot, Original Music, Best Agency Art Direction and Advertising Excellence for a Campaign, a Silver Clio, a Bronze Lion at Cannes, and an EMMY nomination. That same year, Venville released his first book of Photography, LAYERS, which documents his career as an art and advertising photographer.
